Summer Solstice

legend has it that around 2000 years ago a human sacrifice was made in what is now the middle east, this act ensured that by observing the proper feasts and rituals people could avoid any negative consequences especially in the dimension that is experienced/perceived as a result of brain decay after death. The kicker, as i've been told, is the guy that was sacrificed, that was his intention all along, which just seems really really nice, because violent ritualistic slaughter is unpleasant but then you think it through and its not so nice anymore, because it doesn't really matter how anyone acts, so its just this bleak futile gesture by some naive pawn.

Any way, at the height of summer we symbolically recreate this event by congregating giving brightly colored parcels of sweets and games to people we love with money we've put aside from drudging about all year. then we get on with the rest of the summer festival which is eating meats and salads and drinking champagne with fruit in it and swimming. in other places other people do different things.

my man person is gone, he went to take paints and candles and water guns and chocolates to his parents and brothers as a gesture of goodwill. he just left and he will not be back for four days. i might go to the library and get some books to read, maybe clean the house, drink some wine, paint, masturbate, eat, watch tv, listen to music, shop, have friends over, the more i write the more optimistic i'm feeling about this situation. i might go to the movies, i might get a tattoo, i might visit my cousin or make a toy dog out of old clothes.

fabulous, this will be a great four days, i'm going to go make a celebratory coffee and cigarette.
